Many thanks to the Central Office for all the work it takes to produce a schedule of hundreds of papers and panels. As you read the index and discover when you are presenting, you may not be entirely thrilled. Paper sessions cannot all be scheduled mid-morning or just before we break for dinner. Someone has to be scheduled in the 8:00 am sessions and someone has to read a paper right after a quick lunch break. As we put panels together, we thought about which papers would “speak to” one another and help create a great basis for the discussion that panel moderator will facilitate. We tried to put what sounded like popular round tables and paper topics in early or late slots, hoping that those events would draw a crowd at any time of day. Also, of course, we had to accommodate the busiest convention goers: those of you who are reading a paper, participating in a round table, and reading a Common Reader paper so that you never appeared in the schedule against yourself! I’ve lost track of how many breakout sessions we have — at a guess, it is 165! I hope each one is exciting and fun, and that presenting at convention, and listening to others present at convention, is a lasting memory.
