Members of Sigma Tau Delta often feel a sense of “finding home” when they become involved in the organization. Members share a sense of wonder in literature, a joy in the play of language, and a power in the persuasiveness of writing. As a convention site, Minneapolis, Minnesota, is an apt location for recognizing and celebrating this feeling of home in a community that celebrates the individual diversity of its membership. Minnesota, and Minneapolis as its largest city, also celebrates the diversity of its residents, among them those of native American, Somali, Hmong, and Latin American heritage. This vibrant city invites us to contemplate how we find and make our homes in complex multicultural communities.
