Chapter Annual Report

Over 150 chapters already have responded to a link to the 2011-2012 Chapter Annual Report/Survey emailed to Lead Sponsors on April 26. The deadline to reply is June 30. As with last year’s survey, the 2012 survey is multiple-choice, quick and easy, and a great source of ideas. Survey results offer a virtual blueprint for achievement. In fact, Outstanding Chapter Award applicants are required to submit a copy of their Chapter Annual Report as a synopsis of the previous year's activities. What’s more, all participating chapters will be entered into a drawing for $100!

Can't find the initial email? A follow-up email will be sent on May 10 to all Lead Sponsors who have not yet responded.

New Blog, New Features

Our blog, Student Leadership News, has a new home, a new look, and a new name. We are now WORDY by Nature.

Sigma Tau Delta eNews

Summer Book Club
WORDY by Nature at www.wordybynature.org, includes a new blog discussion forum that will feature a number of opportunities to converse with Sigma Tau Delta Student Leaders and chapters around the world. The initial discussion event will be our first-ever Summer Book Club. There will be fun and enlightening discussion about the books and authors themselves, brainstorming about possible convention paper topics or chapter activities designed around them, and even a SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE by Anne Fadiman, author of the first book we will discuss, the 2013 Common Reader, Ex Libris: Confessions of A Common Reader.

The Summer Book Club begins May 15, and is open to students, faculty, alumni, and guests. Learn more and sign up here.

Sponsors: If you are interested in participating in the selection and discussion of future books, please contact Lauren Brandeberry; we would be thrilled to have your input and assistance.

Blog Subscribers: If you currently subscribe to the Student Leadership News via RSS, Atom, or email digest, your feeds will no longer work. Remember to subscribe to the new blog: www.WordbyNature.org.

Committee Opportunities for Sponsors

Sponsors who would like to be involved at the Society level can contribute in a variety of ways through committee work: proposing policy changes to the Board of Directors, judging scholarships and awards, conducting annual reviews of our website and publications, and helping to develop programming. We particularly invite you to serve in the areas listed below.

If you are interested in expanding your Sigma Tau Delta experience, please email Board President Sarah Dangelantonio.

BWB Spring Drive Deadline: May 31

It's time to ship all those books you have been collecting for the Campus Better World Books (BWB) Drive. Ship by May 31 to be eligible for great BWB prizes, including an international trip. Last semester these book drives made a sizable impact.

Contact campus@betterworldbooks.com with your questions or to learn how you can get involved next semester.
